Deadpool Ad
With the new Deadpool film on the horizon, The Comic Book Shop wanted a short video ad showcasing their variety of Deadpool products, including their life-sized statue of the character. I was given four hours to craft an idea, shoot it, edit it and post it using only my phone.
I knew that it would be most interesting to make the video from Deadpool’s chaotic point of view. I quickly drafted a script using the character’s signature sense of humor and went to shoot. Having a shop employee help by puppeteering the foam statue, we got a variety of wacky angles and great looking shots. I cut together everything with my own voice over using CapCut.
One of the most fun bits was putting Deadpool into a theater by shooting the statue in front of a blue screen we had on hand. To help sell the effect, I composited an ad for the movie’s popcorn bucket onto the theater screen.
This was one of the most fun ad shoots I’ve done for The Comic Book Shop, and I think the final product turned out great, especially considering the time constraint.
